Who is this for?
Family Support is an open meeting. It is open to anyone with a family member currently struggling with addiction, suspected addiction or currently in recovery.
What do we do?
In our group, we discuss topics carefully selected by HERO to give families the information and tools they need to better help their loved one reach recovery. We have open discussions about anything that may be on any group members mind. Occasionally, HERO will have a guest speaker from our community, treatment center, or specialists related to addictions.
Why should I attend?
Coming to Family Support will give you helpful tools and information that will allow you to be better equipped to help your loved one through their struggle. In addition you’ll be in a supportive environment with others who have had similar experiences and an opportunity to meet and network with others for support outside of the group.
How much does it cost?
Family support is completely free to attend for a long as you’d like. Donations are always appreciated but never required.
What Can You Expect?
If your loved one is actively using drugs or in recovery, this group can offer you much needed support. Family members often say, I just don't know what to do. HERO does not want you to go through this struggle alone.
Our Family Support group is a comfortable and non-judgmental safe place where you can share your story, ask questions, and receive support from others that have had similar experiences. You will be asked to introduce yourself and share your story and concerns. Maybe you will not want to speak on your first visit, that's OK too. We believe that by listening to the stories and concerns of others, you will hear something that you will be able to identify with and glean some knowledge.
The group is led by a professional counselor and a HERO board member, and attended by concerned parents, grandparents, spouses, and significant others.
